Pink Himalayan Rock Salt Fine Grain. The pink salt harvested from the Khewra Salt Mine which was formed millions of years ago from the evaporation of ancient bodies of water. The salt is hand extracted and minimally processed to yield an unrefined product that is free of additives and thought to be much more natural than table salt. Like table salt, pink Himalayan salt is mostly comprised of sodium chloride. However, the natural harvesting process allows pink Himalayan salt to possess many other minerals and trace elements that are not found in regular table salt. Sarota Salt contains up to 84 different minerals and trace elements. In fact, it is these very minerals, especially iron, that give it its characteristic pink colour. Sarota is sourced from the Khewra Salt Mine aka Mayo Salt Mine, in Khewra, Pakistan. The mine is in the Salt Range, Potohar plateau, which rises from the Indo Gangetic Plain, is the second largest in the world and famous for its production of pink Khewra salt. How the human body can't live without salt. It is needed to transmit nerve impulses, contract and relax muscle fibres including those in the heart and blood vessels, and maintain a proper fluid balance.
